Nest x Public: Festive Cocktail Recipes
It’s time to truly get into the festive spirit.
We’ve teamed up with award-winning Sheffield bar Public to bring you an exclusive set of festive cocktails, to make at home.
Being based in Sheffield, we’re spoilt for choice with excellent independent shops, bars, restaurants and makers – but one of our favourite places to visit has to be the wonderful Public.
Occupying the former gent’s toilet below Sheffield’s grade-1 listed Victorian town hall, Public is a tiny haven of fine drinks and delicious food or as it was once described ‘A Wes Anderson train carriage crowbarred into an old bog’. Named by the Observer as the Best Place to Drink in the UK – if you’ve never been to Public, we thoroughly recommend a visit!
Inspired by a few of our favourite design genres, the team at Public have crafted us four very special cocktail recipes to try at home this festive season – cheers!
A word from Public:
“These drinks, exclusively made for Nest, are four tipples that will really bring the Christmas spirit into your home. At Public we use a lot of infusions, unusual ingredients and various, sometimes complicated, techniques to develop our cocktail menu but it’s just as easy to make something delicious using home equipment, store cupboard ingredients and back of the booze cupboard spirits. With a bit of thought and some elbow grease you can turn unloved in to lovely in a flash! We’ve got drinks here inspired by Italy, the UK, Scandinavia and the Mid-Century, all themes and styles that frequently get referenced across cocktail culture and furniture design alike.”

Christmas Morning Martini
1 tbsp. of Cranberry sauce
15ml Lemon juice
15ml Grand Marnier
50ml Gin
Essentially a breakfast martini using up bits that you always have left over after dinner, let’s use them up for our dinner aperitif.
Add all ingredient with ice into a shaker, jam jar or even your protein shaker. Shake until frosted, strain through a tea strainer into a chilled or frozen glass (ideally a coupé)

Honey Bee Home For The Holidays

35ml Lemon/Honey
Top – Prosecco/Tonic/Lemonade
For the lemon honey, infuse 100ml lemon juice with 100ml honey in a pan on a low heat until everything has become one, chill before use. It’ll keep in the fridge for 2 weeks as well!
Shake ingredients and pour into a flute. Top with prosecco (for a boozy kick) tonic or lemonade. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Please remember to drink responsibly.
