Bake Me a Cake is manufactured by the inmates of a Norwegian prison, through a unique collaboration between the designers, Kriminalomsorgen region vest (the Norwegian correctional services) and Northern Lighting. The goal is to challenge the inmates’ ways of thinking via creative work methods.
The project name stems from the classic cartoon about “the cake with the file”, wherein mum adds a file into the cake she bakes for her imprisoned son to help him escape.
Bake Me a Cake is made from oak wood and smoke-tinted glass and offers a soft light. To change the bulb, simply lift off the glass cover.
