Foscarini: VITE
In a year where home has become more important than ever, Foscarini invite us into the lives of real customers, to discover the precious, everyday moments illuminated by their lighting.
“If it were possible, we should enter the homes of others every day, to ask questions, knocking on doors and finding out what’s happening, looking the inhabitants in the eye to remember and recount those wrinkles, those shining eyes, those shirts fatigued by work, those worn-out jeans, those new outfits dressed for a party…” Flavio Sorgia
With so many interior brands, we’re used to seeing products featured in perfectly styled shoots, with spot-on lighting and not a speck of dust in sight. This makes us long for the beautiful pieces of design but also makes us ask the question – how on earth would this fit into my life?
Foscarini’s new project, Vite (Lives) answers this question by making people the central focus. From North to South, East to West – Foscarini invite us inside real homes to discover the day to day lives of real customers, showing that a beautiful home can be created in whatever way works for you. In Copenhagen, New York, Naples, Shanghai and Venice – we meet the inhabitants of 16 different homes and discover how Foscarini’s lighting has become an integral part of their day to day.
“In this project, the product is no longer at the centre because people are at the centre. It is a change of focus, a statement of principle. People are the ones who choose, and we want to be part of their emotional panorama, their domestic panorama.” says Carlo Urbinati, president of Foscarini.
Filmed and photographed by Gianluca Vassalo, with the stories narrated by Flavio Sorgia - this project aims to capture the meaning of home for each participant. VITE celebrates the imperfections and realities of our lives – an unmade bed, a pile of washing up or having to store your bike in the living room. None of our homes are perfect but it’s the imperfections which make them personal to us, it’s the imperfections which make them feel like home.
We’ve chosen just a few of our favourite images to showcase here today, but if you’d like to see more, you can find Foscarini’s full publication here. Alternatively, you can discover the full set of video stories on our YouTube Channel here.
