A design with historic origins, the Egyptian Coffee Table takes inspiration from the folding stands found in Tutenkhamun’s tomb during the 1920’s. A pioneer of Danish functionalism, dedicated to a philosophy of function being paramount, Lassen created a flexible, innovative folding design. Upholding the core belief that intelligent, purposeful design never goes out of style, the Egyptian Coffee Table is now considered a design classic.

Danish Architect Mogens Lassen produced simple, functional wooden furniture pieces which have gone on to become furniture icons.
After attending school with his brother (Flemming Lassen) and Arne Jacobsen, Mogens also went on to join the studio of architect Tyge Hvass. Mogens Lassen brought international fame to Danish design with countless awards and medals, including the C.F. Hansen Medal, Denmark’s highest architectural honour.
