Embodying a classic rocking chair design, the chair is defined by its striking spindled backrest, divided by a double bow and central slat. The supportive armrests create an added touch of comfort and relaxation, perfect for when gently rocking and taking a restful pause away from everyday life. Crafted from Ash, the warming aesthetic of the wood creates a long-lasting design and style that can adapt to changing interior spaces over time. Perfect for using as a reading chair in a living room, the L.Ercolani Chairmakers Rocking Chair is a characterful addition to a home. Also available, the L.Ercolani Originals Chairmakers Chair.
Lucian R Ercolani, or the "Old Man" as he is affectionately known in the company, founded Ercol in 1920. Born in Italy in 1888, Lucian's family moved to London in the 1890s. There he went to night school at the Shoreditch Technical Institute where he studied drawing, design and the theory and construction of furniture.
Between 1910 to 1920, The Old Man worked in the design teams for what would later become Parker Knoll and G-Plan, before founding Ercol in 1920.
