The idea was to create a sofa that offered high seating comfort and easy aesthetic appeal. The attempt was highly successful, and EJ 220 is still one of Erik Jørgensen’s best-selling sofas.

In 1954, Erik Jørgensen (1928-1998) established a workshop in the town of Svendborg on the southern coast of the island of Funen. He had originally trained as a saddler and upholsterer but now applied his craft skills and in-depth knowledge of materials in his passion for furniture. By combining his skills and knowledge with his understanding of market trends, Erik Jørgensen laid the basis for what is today an international furniture brand and a family firm, run by the second generation.
