The corner sofa guide
Thinking of investing in a corner sofa? Take a seat, grab a brew and join us to discover some of our favourite designs.
Corner sofas are brilliant pieces of design, expanding your lounge area to provide the utmost comfort. However, with a slightly larger footprint than most sofas, they can feel like a big investment. We want to help you feel confident in making your decision.
With over 15 years’ experience in the industry, we’ve sat on many sofas over the years. From the fabric to the construction, we know what makes a good sofa – and we think you deserve to know too.
Why choose a corner sofa?
As we see it, corner sofas have three distinct advantages over other styles. They are a very efficient use of space; they offer maximum comfort and are great for social spaces.
Efficient – corner sofas give you maximum seating area whilst minimising the clutter that a formation such as a sofa and armchairs sometimes brings. They work really well when pushed into the corner, helping to open up space in the rest of the room.
Comfortable - corner sofas really do provide an extra level of relaxation. They’re roomy enough for two people to put their feet up, making them the perfect base for movie night (or for the dog).
Social – spacious enough to accommodate a number of guests, corner sofas make a great choice for social spaces. The corner formation also helps to encourage conversation.
So, what kinds of corner sofa are there?
Modular sofas – the majority of corner sofas we stock here at Nest are modular, giving you the flexibility to build your sofa exactly as you choose.
An inherently sustainable way to choose furniture, making it modular allows you the flexibility to mix things up in the future by simply adding or removing a module. This means you don’t have the expense of having to buy a completely new piece, and it reduces your long-term material consumption too. We are big believers of forever design here at Nest and think it’s great when a piece of furniture can move with you through life, adapting to your changing needs.
You can find more details about modular sofas in our modular sofa guide here.
Chaise sofas – not quite a corner sofa but almost. If you’re not sure whether a full-size corner sofa is for you, these can be a great choice. Chaise sofas offer increased seating space and an element of division whilst also keeping to a smaller footprint than most corner sofas.
