Inside our homes: Sindy Irving

Join us for a tour of Nest Sales & Buying Assistant Sindy’s family home as we chat interior style and home inspiration.

With an eye for style, Sindy works within our sales team at our Park Hill Showroom, responsible for merchandising and creating spaces that welcome our customers to discover the choice of designs we have in-store and online. Assisting customers in any way she can, whether that’s solving a design dilemma, investing in a dream lounge chair or buying smaller gifts and homeware to personalise your home.

Familiar with the icons and the latest design releases, Sindy spends her days immersed in great design both at work and at home.

Since moving into her family home, a Victorian Terrace, in 2016, Sindy has furnished her spaces with much-loved pieces of design. Keen to see how it’s developed, the Nest marketing team were invited inside for a look around…

Where do you find inspiration for your home?

I love to draw on inspiration from hotels I’ve stayed in. Being in such carefully considered surroundings, even just for a night or two, can help reimagine my own home environment and how I can change things up. One of my favourite local hotels is Wildhive Callow Hall, the perfect escape!

I also have a collection of old interior magazines that I’ve held onto for years. I love to pull them out every now and again for a peruse with a coffee!

And of course, I’m always looking through Instagram and Pinterest for new ideas and home inspiration!

What are your favourite Instagram accounts?

Too many to choose from! My go to accounts are @house_of_logan, @est-living, @shnordic and of course @nest_co_uk.

Has your style evolved over time?

I feel as though I’ve now found my style, but I don’t really think about it too much. I like to go with the flow and buy things I love without worrying too much about whether it ‘goes’.

I consider the quality, the comfort and the materials and if it’s designed to last. Can it continue to fill the needs of my family over the years? I also love to incorporate items that are sentimental to me, it’s so important to me that my home feels loved and lived in.

How do you balance family life and creating a peaceful home?

As a mum of boys it can be hard to keep it peaceful! I find using a similar colour palette throughout helps my mind feel at ease and keeps the house flowing.

I try to not be too precious, it’s a family home that’s loved and lived in at the end of the day and mess is just a part of the joy! However, lots of clever storage and having a big clear-out twice a year i find helps us find a good balance.

What is your favourite brand and why?

So hard to choose just one, but at the moment I am particularly loving the &Tradition collection.

Every piece has something special about it and their designs work well in various settings. Whenever we have a new &Tradition product in the showroom, you just know it will work in harmony anywhere, without having to plan or rearrange but enhancing the space and drawing the eye.

What products are on your wish list?

At the moment I am looking for a new sofa. I love the Develius from &Tradition, we have it in the showroom, so I have spent lots of time admiring it and trying it out for comfort!

Everyone at Nest knows i would also like a Little Petra Lounge Chair and the new Louis Poulsen PH 2/1 table lamp, it’s beautiful!

What do you love most about working for Nest?

I love coming to work and being constantly inspired. Both by the gorgeous products we sell but also by the stories behind them. Every brand, designer and product has a unique tale.

Meeting customers at the showroom is another highlight. Helping people on their design journey is a lot of fun! Whether it’s a new sofa or a gift for a loved one, I love helping to find the perfect product!
