Heavily inspired by the heritage of Scandinavian craftsmanship, Kallio has refined the everyday dining table with fine artistry and strong attention to detail. A considered piece crafted using solid oak wood the striking SK12 showcases Kallio's extensive knowledge of traditional woodworking techniques with a combination of modern simplicity and luxurious materials. Part of the stunning In Between series, the SK12 joins a range of original furniture pieces that bring together high-quality workmanship and a Nordic aesthetic. The collection includes the SK11, a smaller dining table variant catering to spaces that are a little more compact.
Sami Kallio was born in Helsinki, Finland, and moved to Gothenburg, Sweden, at the age of two. In Kallio’s own words, his work combines the melancholy of the Finnish design heritage with the humour of the Swedish tradition.
In 2009, Kallio co-founded the Gothenburg-based furniture manufacturer Brikolör. The company aims to produce furniture with a guaranteed technical durability of 300 years. In 2011, he established Sami Kallio Studio, and launched his first collection, The Finnish Blood in Me.
