Crafted from lacquered and milled solid MDF, the sculptural Tung Side Table has beautifully oversized proportions. The high gloss, light-reflecting surface evokes a sense of grandeur, though compact in size. Supported by three cylindrical legs, Tung stands only 48cm tall, making it ideal for even the smallest spaces.
With a silhouette that manages to be both strong and soft, Tung’s harmonious expression is unique and unexpected, adding style with a burst of bold colour to an interior space.
After completing his studies in anthropology and sociology in his native England, John Astbury then moved to Sweden to study product design at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack).
With his own design studio in Stockholm, Astbury is known for re-examining the fundamental elements of an archetype to explore what can be done differently; creating new poetic purpose and direction to drive design in an alternative direction.
