First produced a year after the iconic Stool 60, in 1934, the Artek Stool E60 offers the familiar form of the older stool but with a fourth leg for added stability. Elsewhere things remain much the same, with the simple silhouette of the familiar piece rendered of beautifully worked birch wood, with the stool produced by hand in 40-steps by the master craftspeople at Artek's A-Factory in Turku, Finland. Finish options also replicate those of the original 60 Stool, with a wide range of colourful seats and fully-lacquered versions available. Whichever your preference, the Stool E60 is certain to be welcomed into any home where it will no doubt remain for generations to come.
As one of the great architects and furniture designers of the 20th century, Finnish designer Alvar Aalto breathed life and warmth into modernism, placing emphasis on "organic" geometry; supple, natural materials; and a respect for human feeling.
Alvar Aalto's collection of mid-century furniture and lighting is produced exclusively by Scandinavian brand Artek including the iconic Artek 60 Stool.
