Dramatic and sculptural, the CH445 Wing Chair showcases Hans J. Wegner’s exceptional talent and vision. Combining a stainless steel frame with tactile fabric upholstery, the chair reinvents the wingback chair for the modern age with a contemporary aesthetic. Handcrafted in Denmark, the chair’s structure stands as a testament to the high quality artisanship practiced at Carl Hansen & Son.
The CH445 makes the perfect addition to any living space, giving you somewhere to sink into after a long day, or to curl up with a coffee on a bright morning. The curved, foam-filled backrest enfolds you, providing support and comfort, no matter how you choose to sit.
With his love of natural materials and his deep understanding of the need for furniture to be functional as well as beautiful, Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) made mid-century Danish design popular on an international scale. He began his career as a cabinetmaker in 1931 and subsequently entered the Copenhagen School of Arts & Crafts. After receiving his architectural degree in 1938, he worked as a designer in Arne Jacobsen and Erik Muller's architectural office before establishing his own office in 1943.
