With sweeping curves and bends, the Cherner Armchair Fully Upholstered - Leather stands out as an icon of mid-century design. The iconic armchair, originally designed by Cherner in 1958, offers additional comfort and style with quality leather upholstered seat and back pads. Available in a number of oak veneer finishes, each oak frame finish pairs exceptionally with the smooth Camo Sierra Leather and harmoniously accentuates the chair's complex curves. The Camo Sierra Leather is a corrected leather with a robust surface treatment that offers durability, easy maintenance and an extensive range of colours. Paired with the smooth frame, the upholstered chair is the perfect synthesis of simplistic design and comfort.
Norman Cherner studied and taught at the Columbia University Fine Arts Department and was an instructor at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from 1947 to 1949. At the same time he also began his practice, embarking on a lifetime exploration of multidisciplinary design. Although best known for his furniture design, his work included almost all aspects of design: from graphics, glassware and lighting, to his pioneering work in prefabricated housing.
