Widely regarded as one of Gammelgaard’s most iconic pieces, the JG Folding Stool is celebrated as a masterpiece of engineering and considered furniture design. Featuring a cleverly devised folding mechanism, every line, material and detail has been considered and has an essential purpose.
Appealing from every angle, the stool can be neatly collapsed and folded away, ideal as an additional seating solution when hosting guests. Versatile and functional the stool pays homage to Danish design fundamentals, merging expert craftsmanship, high-quality materials and timeless design. Jorgen Gammelgaard was awarded the prestigious Danish Furniture Prize in 1971 for his Folding Stool.
Jorgen Gammelgaard is from a generation of skilful furniture designers who learned their craft in the time-honoured Danish apprenticeship tradition.
Gammelgaard designed the famous Tip-Top lampshade, while some of his other most successful furniture designs include the Crestrail and Skagen chairs. He was the first designer to receive annual awards from both the Danish Design Council and The Council for Arts and Crafts.
