The timeless Swan Chair design first came to life in Jacobsen’s garage in Klampenborg and has been in production at Fritz Hansen ever since. The chair was designed specifically for lounge and lobby areas of the hotel, with its sophisticated, cocooned expression creating a highly comforting, retreated seat space. The daring curves of the Swan Chair broke through the mould of the linear furniture being designed in the 1950’s, and has since become established as a design classic with an instantly recognisable, sculptural silhouette.
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark’s most influential 20th century architects and designers. Jacobsen’s buildings and products meld modernist ideals with a Nordic love of naturalism.
Arne Jacobsen is synonymous with stunning Danish designer chairs and lighting. His most iconic designs include the Fritz Hansen Series 7 Chair, Egg Chair and the AJ Table Lamp for Louis Poulsen.
