The MR01 features a low-slung wooden frame and a distinct, maritime-inspired, hand-woven rope seat and backrest. Since the launch of the original MR01, Rasmussen’s vision was to create an outdoor version, thanks to the chair’s unique nautical and nomadic aesthetic that would perfectly complement the outdoors.
The MR01 Initial Outdoor Lounge Chair has been expertly crafted from solid iroko wood, an ideal material for outdoor use due to its low maintenance and durable qualities. The low, and relaxed structure of the chair is gently inclined, allowing you to sit back and place your feet on the floor, creating a sense of calm and grounded comfort. Born in 1990, Mathias Steen Rasmussen is a Danish designer with a seasoned and meticulous approach to furniture design.
With a background in art and cabinetmaking, his philosophy is “honesty in construction” and his design process open to what an object consists of and how it is constructed, often with an affinity for showcasing the naked grain of the wood and visible joints.
