In the 1960s designer Warren Platner devised a method to transform steel wire into sculptural, comfortable furniture, resulting in the Planter collection, an effortless range of furniture that radiates elegance. Gather the Platner Side Chairs around the Platner Dining Table for full effect, each side chair crafted from polished Nickel and upholstered in sumptuous Ultrasuade, exclusive to Knoll Textiles.
Warren Platner studied architecture at Cornell University. Following his work with legendary designers Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei, he immersed himself in the creation of steel wire furniture, devising the method and tooling to produce the lounge chair in the line as well.
Notable among his residential and commercial projects are the Georg Jensen Design Centre and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Centre, both in New York City.
