Most sculptures choose to cover the metal mesh that forms their internal frame. In the case of the Magis Birds Sculpture, designer Benedetta Mori Ubaldini has chosen to explore the beauty of this material, creating objects that are light and airy. Suspended from the ceiling on a thread, the resulting object is almost poetic, drifting on unseen currents. The birds are available in two sizes, and are perfect for decorating the ceiling of a nursery or playroom. Also available, the Magis Cloud Sculpture.
Before moving to Milan in 2005 Benedetta Mori Ubaldini lived and was trained in London. Benedetta works in many materials but is best known for her innovative and extraordinarily beautiful wire work. Each piece starts life as industrially produced, rolled “chicken” wire which is gradually shaped by hand, twisting and joining the pieces together to give a seamless appearance.
