Anchored by a solid marble base the Normann Copenhagen Pose Mirror has a graceful elegance. The double-sided circular mirror appears to float above the base, creating a cohesive yet contrasting piece. One side of the mirror is simply reflective, while the other side has 3x magnification, making it ideal for morning or bedtime routines. Designer Simon Legald’s archetypal sculptural touch gives the mirror a classical aspect that allows it to drop into a wide variety of different environments.
Simon Legald studies design at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and will graduate in the Summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products.
“Honesty is what makes a product understandable, and is what describes functionality of the products. If you understand the product, it doesn’t need any explanation. The essence of my design is for it to be bought and used. Therefore it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological- and aesthetic needs. For me simplicity describes the true identity of objects, and makes them trustworthy. In my designs I try not to add any unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression.”
