Functionality and aesthetics are at the heart of the Normann Copenhagen Vig collection, of which the Bar Stool is a part. Designed to withstand the rigours of outdoor use, the stool is constructed from double powder-coated steel, making it exceptionally durable and hard-wearing. Ergonomics have been carefully considered, with an integrated footrest and a low-profile backrest.
Legald’s thoughtful design is ideally suited to a wide range of different outdoor spaces, with a muted palette of colours that blends perfectly with the natural environment, making the stool unobtrusive and visually pleasing. Pieces from the collection can be combined together in an infinite number of different combinations, allowing you to create an arrangement that perfectly suits your space.
Simon Legald studies design at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and will graduate in the Summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products.
“Honesty is what makes a product understandable, and is what describes functionality of the products. If you understand the product, it doesn’t need any explanation. The essence of my design is for it to be bought and used. Therefore it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological- and aesthetic needs. For me simplicity describes the true identity of objects, and makes them trustworthy. In my designs I try not to add any unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression.”
