A stunning design that has stood the test of time, the light's name and structure take inspiration from the beautiful form of a butterfly. The signature winged shape is crafted from overlapping perforated panels, diffusing the light across the surface to create a unique, lustrous glow. Available in a collection of sophisticated finishes that appear to shimmer as the light shines through, the design serves as both a practical light source and decorative wall feature; adding a characterful accent to spaces both classic and contemporary.
Norwegian furniture designer Sven Ivar Dysthe (1931-2020) worked internationally since the 1950s.
After training as a cabinet-maker in his native Oslo he studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art in London. Dysthe later returned to Oslo and established a design studio and began exporting his furniture designs in the early 1960s.
Dysthe’s works have been exhibited in the V&A in London and the National Museum's in both Stockholm and Oslo. Dysthe’s Butterfly wall lamp, designed in 1964, continues to be produced and exported to this today.
