Story

Panton designed several variations on the Amoebe chair for the famous Visiona installation of 1970, amongst them this highback piece. A remarkable example of lounge furniture, the Vitra Amoebe Highback Chair perfectly captures the spirit of the era in which it was initially made. A perennial favourite of design connoisseurs and art enthusiasts alike, the Amoebe Highback Lounge Chair has a flexible backrest covered in premium Tonus fabric that curves over the head of the sitter, forming a sculptural canopy and a sense of shelter, making it the perfect lounge chair for sitting room, study or bedroom. A close relative of the bold and iconic Vitra Living Tower, the Amoebe Highback Lounge Chair sits equally well on its own as it does alongside both the Living Tower and the low-backed Vitra Amoebe Lounge Chair.
