Jean Prouvé designed the Lampe de Bureau as part of the functional furnishings for the halls of residence at the Cité University in Nancy, France. The light is constructed from bent sheet steel, which reflects the light rays in a pleasant, in-direct fashion. The light is now available in three beautiful colourways derived from the original hues used by Prouvé, allowing you to pick the perfect version for your chosen space, whether placed on a home desk or on a side table in your living space.
Jean Prouve was born into an artistic family in Nancy, France. Prouve trained as a metalsmith before attending engineering school in Nancy, and his intimate knowledge of metal remained the foundation of his work and career.
After opening his own workshop in 1923, Prouve began producing modern metal furniture of his own design as well as collaborating with some of the best-known French designers of the day, including Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand.
