One of the most recognisable pieces in Vitra's series of Metal Wall Reliefs that celebrate the work of Girard, the Sun is a real icon of modernism. Crafted from brass and sitting at an impressive 60cm in diameter, Girard's motif is certain to brighten any space, be it at home or in the workplace. Bold, characterful and distinctive, the Sun acts as a glorious tribute to its maker.
Designer Alexander Girard was born to an American mother and an Italian father in 1907 in New York City. Along with his close friends and contemporaries George Nelson and Charles & Ray Eames, Girard was one of the leading figures of postwar American modern design.
