Cones, circles, and cylinders effortlessly combine together to create a harmonious piece of occasional furniture. Sebastian Herkner’s expert understanding of form and function is immediately evident in the Mate Side Table’s sculptural proportions and bold typology.
The central pillar pivots forward towards the table’s user, like a friend offering to share a meal, or a server leaning in to present the next dish. The whole table has a distinct lightness of form, the tabletop appearing to float atop the geometric base.
Sebastian Herkner established his own studio in 2006 and has since then been involved in freelance projects for various companies and institutes.
Alongside the design of exhibitions and trade fair presentations his focus is on designing everyday objects. He is influenced by his observations of people and their actions.
