Inspired by the forms of Asian lanterns, Jaime Hayon has collaborated with the exceptionally talented artisans at &Tradition to create a collection of ethereal paper pendant lights, with sculptural rounded forms and beautiful solid wood accents.
In their traditional guise, the lanterns are a ubiquitous part of Asian interiors, in a wide variety of different shapes and colours. In the JH5, Hayon has broken with tradition by combining hemispherical and cylindrical forms, creating a striking centrepiece suitable for any minimalist or contemporary living space.
Spanish artist and industrial designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974.
In 1997, he began working as a researcher at Fabrica, Benetton Group’s communication and research centre in Treviso, Italy. 2004 saw the start of Hayon’s individual career and he has kept himself busy with a spectrum of eclectic projects. From toys, to modern furniture and interior design as well as artistic installations, his boldness has been to transcend the borders of the often separated worlds of art and design, comfortably bridging the two whilst embedding them with his own unique style.
