Originally known as the MS-9, the Oda Lounge Chair is a forgotten classic, brought back to life by Audo Copenhagen. Arnold Madsen’s genius was in the complex curves that define his work. The Oda chair’s backrest enfolds the sitter, providing unmatched lumbar and neck support, making it an incredibly comfortable place to curl up with a book and a cup of coffee. The design showcases Madsen’s meticulous attention to detail and his command of both form and function.
A little-known icon of Danish modernism, Arnold Madsen was a driven and determined designer who created ground-breaking pieces of furniture.
Atypical of many other designers of the period, Madsen had no formal training as an architect, designer or cabinetmaker. A man of few words, he did little to advertise his creations. His work explored form and materials, using round shapes to create striking and elegant designs with a characteristic visual lightness.
His work is now available through Audo Copenhagen with the signature Oda Lounge Chair, featuring Madsen’s trademark meticulousness and pioneering drive.
