Cadovius’ groundbreaking shelving system design is regarded as one of the greatest Danish furniture successes in history, marking a pioneering movement away from heavy, space-stealing traditional furniture to new, wall-mounted storage. The Twelve Shelves & Four Cupboards configuration almost creates a room within a room, with its breathtaking walnut structure, beautifully complemented by brass brackets, creating the ultimate display unit and storage facility.
Perfect for a large living room or dining area, the design allows for the elegant display of your favourite possessions on the shelves, whilst concealing the many everyday objects we would rather have organised out of sight in the cabinets. A masterful design, the ROYAL SYSTEM® is utterly timeless in both its purpose and style.
Poul Cadovius was born in Frederiksberg in 1911 and was originally trained as a saddler and upholsterer. He was a colourful and successful designer with a marked influence on the Danish furniture industry and furniture design - both in his own time and later. In 1948, Poul Cadovius designed the shelving system ROYAL SYSTEM®, which through the 50s, 60s and 70s perhaps was the largest furniture success Danish furniture industry has ever had. Poul Cadovius died in 2011 at the age of 99, during his life he managed to register over 400 individual patents, and we are proud to ensure that his legacy lives on.
