The e15 ST04 Backenzahn Side Table’s unique and captivating shape is achieved by using the centre of the tree, which lends it an intricate and distinctive form. During the wood seasoning process, the legs of the table develop characteristic cracks, giving each piece a one-of-a-kind look that sets it apart from anything else like it.
Philipp Mainzer also created the ST04 Stool, which shares a similar structure and production process with the Backenzahn Side Table. However, instead of a concave seat, the Side Table features a flattened top that serves as a convenient surface for holding glasses, books and food. With its captivating design and unique production process, the e15 ST04 Backenzahn Side Table has earned a place in various museum collections and is a must-have for any modern design enthusiast.
Born in Mainz, Germany, Philipp Mainzer studied Product Design at Central Saint Martins College and Architecture at the Architectural Association in London.
During this time he established the furniture company e15 together with Florian Asche. Following several interior and furniture projects in England and Germany he moved to New York where he works as an architect and serves as creative director for e15 and Bergman.
