Taking the form of a Beretta pistol in a dramatic representation of military hardware, Starck renders the weapon as a political statement with opulent colours symbolising the economical benefits garnered by some through the international arms trade, while a pattern of small crosses inside the shade act as a reminder of those lost to the futility of armed conflict. The Gun Lamp is both subversive and a pronouncement, and is signed off with the poetic mantra of its creator 'happiness is a hot gun'. A percentage of the profit generated by the Flos Gun Bedside Lamp is donated to the charity 'Frères des Hommes'.
