A fundamental piece of furniture in many spaces across the globe, the PK31™ Lounge Chair displays character through a contrast of natural and industrial materials whilst exhibiting simplistic geometric elements. A series of self-contained freestanding objects, the PK31™ collection explores the idea of finding the perfect seating position. With the seat placed precisely at the midpoint between the armrest and back, the lounge chair defines a cuboid shape, measuring exactly 76cm at each side. Expertly crafted, featuring a loose down cushion with leather upholstery and supported by a base of matt chromed sprung steel the PK31™ exudes Scandinavian simplicity, allowing it to be easily adapted to a variety of spaces, whether utilised in the living room, bedroom or an office environment.
Poul Kjaerholm was a trained carpenter and continued his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He had a particular interest in different construction materials; especially steel which he considered a natural material with the same artistic fineness as other natural materials.
