Combining the intricate craftsmanship of rattan basketry with the sumptuous comfort of voluptuous fabric upholstery, the Gubi Basket Lounge Chair adds a beautiful natural touch to your interior spaces. Joe Colombo’s original design incorporated a fibreglass shell, which has now been replaced by a solid steel skeleton, adding strength while also being kinder to the environment. This is covered with a hand-woven rattan skin, using interlaced strips and oval stakes to create the chair’s characteristic contours.
In his brief but brilliant career, Italian industrial designer Joe Colombo produced a series of innovative designs which made him one of Italy’s most influential Italian product designers of the 20th century.
