Thinking like an architect, but creating like an artist, Cecilia Xinyu Zhang has designed a multi-functional, space-saving rack that resembles a contemporary piece of artwork.
Made from tubular steel in a stunning matt black finish, the Frame Clothing Rack’s robust frame extends outward away from the wall to form lightweight tiers, perfect for hanging your clothes or displaying your favourite possessions. When not in use, the multi-hinged construction silently retracts, returning to its original two-dimensional shape, disguising itself as a hanging wall sculpture.
Born and raised in Beijing, Cecilia Xinyu Zhang produces designs intended to alter perceptions of objects and space. Exploring the potential to create optical illusions in everyday products, she composes two-dimensional objects that expand into 3-D proportions, creating large-scale designs that seem smaller in appearance. Graduating from a master's degree in design and crafts, Cecilia’s work reflects the need to make multifunctional products part of everyday interiors as urban living spaces continue to shrink in size.
