An object cannot become a design icon until it has stood the test of time and appears quite naturally in different settings, giving it a symbolic aura of its own, the &Tradition VP2 Big Flowerpot Pendant Light by Verner Panton is just that.
The pendant is a throwback to 1968 when the student’s revolt in Paris, Rome and the United States were overthrowing stiff, old values and initiating the Flower-Power movement. The light is defined by a beautiful hemisphere structure, with the low-hanging rounded pendant adding to the blooming, playful form. Perfect for hanging low over a dining table, Panton’s colourful, dynamic design is a beautiful addition to the contemporary home.
Verner Panton is one of the iconic designers of the last century. Panton rose to fame designing the ‘Panton Chair’ for Vitra. Panton’s designs continue to be hugely popular and are still a big influence today on designers and architects.
Verner Panton was a student of Architecture at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen. Amongst Panton’s major achievements in the design and architecture world, is the design of the interior for the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg.
Panton’s designs are fantastically fun, colourful and contemporary and include the organic shapes of the Panton and Amoebe chairs right through to the ecliptic Flowerpot lamp collection.
