Nielsen designed the Vipp pedal bin for use in his wife’s hair salon in 1939, with the enduring nature of the piece leading to it being given a place in the permanent collection at New York’s MOMA.
Available in a series of simple, understated colour-ways, the Vipp Pedal Bin is a perennial classic, with its uncomplicated powder-coated steel exterior housing a complex internal system, that features an air-tight, smooth closing mechanism and removable inner trash bin that is both durable and aesthetically desirable. Available here in a 30 Litre capacity, ideal for the kitchen, a number of different sizes are also available to suit your needs and living spaces.
In 1939, Vipp was founded by a skilled metalworker called Holger Nielsen, who crafted a pedal bin for his wife’s hair salon.
Over time, the iconic bin design and studio gained popularity in Denmark and remains a family-owned business to this day. Notably, in 2009, MoMA included the Vipp Pedal Bin in its prestigious design collection.
