Simple, yet aesthetically beautiful, the Carl Hansen & Son FK63 Bookcase demonstrates design duo Fabricius & Kastholm’s understanding of minimalism without compromising on functionality or craftsmanship. Constructed from solid wood, the bookcase has a wonderful texture imparted by the grain. The structure is entirely modular and can be reconfigured to best suit your space. The configuration displayed here gives you ample storage for books and other objects, incorporating a cabinet base.
Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) both attended the Danish school of Interior Design, where they studied architecture under Finn Juhl and subsequently with Arne Jacobsen.
Creating a handful of designs as a partnership, the duo were driven by a mutual mission to make a form a pure derivative of function. Their work is defined by mixing materials and shapes, forming streamlined, sleek pieces; with many commissioned pieces intended for international airports, penthouse apartments, high-profile lifestyle magazines and even early James Bond films.
