GamFratesi took inspiration from the namesake of the chair; by studying the anatomy and movement of the beetle the designers created a unique curved shape for the chair’s shell. A highly contemporary dining chair, the beautifully curvaceous shell creates a comfortable, relaxing seat space, ideal for sitting for long periods.
GUBI has redeveloped the Beetle Chair seat shell using a recycled plastic composite. Using advanced technology and customised materials comprising over 50% recycled plastic, GUBI has been able to make production significantly more responsible, while retaining the same quality and performance as virgin plastic.
GamFratesi Studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The studio is based in Copenhagen, though Gam and Fratesi are continuously traveling between Italy and Denmark for development and research of new projects.
Gamfratesi won the Young Designer Talent of the Year at the Elle Decoration International Design Awards 2013.
