Made from a single profile rotated through 360 degrees the aptly named Spun rotating chair transforms the domestic seat into a beautifully rendered spinning top. When upright, the chair is a sculptural vessel, a dramatic piece of contemporary art from designer Thomas Heatherwick.
Tipping it to one side allows you to take advantage of the unconventional shape to rock in any direction, indulging in a fun and playful side that characterises both Heatherwick and Magis’ work. Whether used indoors or outside, the Spun adds an unconventional twist to your home.
Award-winning British designer Thomas Heatherwick founded Heatherwick Studio in 1994 with the aim of creating unique design projects. Heatherwick's team of designers, architects and makers work in a combined studio and workshop in central London's King’s Cross. The Heatherwick Studio’s projects range from bridges and buildings to contemporary furniture and large-scale works of public art.
Amongst Heatherwick's most successful 'small-scale' projects is the now iconic Spun Chair for Italian furniture brand Magis. This rotating lounge chair came out of research into geometric simplification and experimentation into materials and processes.
