Defined by beautiful layers and blends of colour, the Capas has an intense depth that has been created through a shadow effect. Each rug has a main colour, a complementing tone and a darker gradient which gives the illusion of a shadow cast on the floor. The rug has been crafted using a new type of loose Kilim structure where the colours of the warp and weft are mixed. Hahn wanted to convey how shadows are never as simple as black or white, and by using this technique, created a visual texture and a beautiful work of art where colours delicately intertwine with each other. An enhanced design that is ideal for modern interiors, the rug is available in five different finishes, perfect for creating a dynamic, comforting centrepiece in an interior space.
London-based German designer Mathias Hahn has worked on diverse projects for clients such as Marset, Ligne Roset, Kvadrat, Kohler, Magazin and Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin.
Mathias has a natural desire for designing towards use and functionality. He pictures his work as having two sides. One is based on the idea to create objects that have a place in everyday life and solve a particular problem, the other one is more playful and related to the narrative side of the design process which often functions as a starting point.
