Eclectic, wild, joyous; the nanimarquina Hayon x Nani Square Rug is a unique contemporary rug from the iconic textile brand nanimarquina in collaboration with Spanish designer Jaime Hayon. Hayon x Nani is created using a hand-tufting technique whereby a manually operated pistol is used to inject pieces of wool, to achieve intuitive and fluid lines within the piece. This blend of contemporary design and traditional techniques allows the rug to become a faithful and definitive reproduction of the original design sketches.
Spanish artist and industrial designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974.
In 1997, he began working as a researcher at Fabrica, Benetton Group’s communication and research centre in Treviso, Italy. 2004 saw the start of Hayon’s individual career and he has kept himself busy with a spectrum of eclectic projects. From toys, to modern furniture and interior design as well as artistic installations, his boldness has been to transcend the borders of the often separated worlds of art and design, comfortably bridging the two whilst embedding them with his own unique style.
